The Canberra Innovation Network (also CBR Innovation Network or CBRIN) is an initiative of the government of the Australian Capital Territory, established to accelerate innovation and diversify the economy in the ACT region. It is based on the collaboration of five Foundation Members — the Australian National University, CSIRO, NICTA, the University of Canberra, and the University of New South Wales — and was founded in 2014. One of its primary programs has been the creation of an innovation district in Canberra. The Canberra Innovation Network has created a multi-program innovation district in Canberra, consisting of a business incubator, start-up accelerator program, and co-working space. == History == A need for targeted economic development in Canberra was identified by the Economic Development Directorate of the ACT Government in 2014.〔 CBRIN was established in November 2014 with the goal of accelerating innovation and diversifying the economy in the ACT region.〔 It is a cooperative venture of, CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), and NICTA (National Information and Communications Technology Research centre of excellence of Australia).
